Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions

Simple and surgical extractions performed with expert care and sedation options — at a dental office near you.

About the Service

When Is a Tooth Extraction the Right Call?

A simple extraction removes a tooth that's fully visible above the gumline, usually completed in minutes under local anesthesia. A surgical extraction — for impacted teeth, broken teeth, or complex root anatomy — involves a small incision, with sedation available and recommended.

Many extraction patients at Tänder are preparing for implants, All on X, or orthodontic treatment. When extractions are part of a broader plan, we coordinate timing and, when appropriate, perform socket preservation to protect bone for future implants.

Candidacy

Am I a Candidate?

Whether you are a candidate depends on your health, your goals and your imaging. The list below shows common situations where patients ask about this care. A board-certified Tänder surgeon reviews your case at a free consultation and gives you an honest answer, with no obligation to move forward.

  • A tooth is severely decayed and cannot be restored
  • A tooth is broken off at or below the gumline
  • A tooth is causing a recurring or spreading infection
  • A wisdom tooth is impacted or crowding neighboring teeth
  • Teeth need to be cleared before All on X or full-arch implant surgery

Cost & Financing

Tooth Extraction Cost

Simple extraction*: Typically $150–$350 per tooth depending on complexity.

Surgical extraction*: Typically $250–$800 per tooth depending on depth, root anatomy, and anesthesia used.

*Ranges are estimates, not quotes. Your price depends on the severity of your case, your bone structure and whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed, how many teeth or implants are involved, and your sedation choice. Your surgeon confirms exact pricing after reviewing your imaging. Pricing last updated 2026-10-09.

Recovery

What to Expect

Day 1–2

Some bleeding, swelling, and discomfort is normal. Bite on gauze, rest, and avoid straws — sucking can dislodge the healing clot.

Days 3–7

Swelling and discomfort decrease significantly. Most patients return to normal activity within two to four days.

Week 2+

Soft tissue typically heals fully within one to two weeks for simple extractions, two to four weeks for surgical extractions.

Not necessarily — simple extractions are routinely done under local anesthesia. Sedation is available for surgical extractions or by preference.

If you plan to replace the tooth with an implant, socket preservation is often recommended to maintain bone volume.

Sometimes immediately; more often three to six months after healing, longer if grafting was needed.

Soft foods and liquids for the first 24–48 hours, gradually reintroducing firmer foods as healing progresses.
